Capita Symonds has been working in the
Republic of Ireland for over 20 years, since 2004 as Capita Symonds
and before that under legacy names such as Travers Morgan and
Symonds.
We have worked on a number of major projects
including:
-
Limerick Tunnel: We provided specialist design
services on the €605m project (pictured) which features 11 bridges,
10km of two lane dual carriageway; 2.3km of single lane dual
carriageway; and a 675m long tunnel under the River Shannon.
-
Dublin Airport, Check-in Area 14, Terminal 1: The
highly innovative concept for the check-in zone uses innovative
lighting techniques and materials to give the impression of natural
daylight.
-
Dublin Airport Sky
Walk: This complex link cable
stayed bridge provides access to the airport’s €120m Pier D
terminal building and is particularly unusual as it curves through
90 degrees in plan. It is formed from a 12m wide, 4.5m high, 86m
long truss supported from 24 cables connected to inclined twin
towers, while the deck spans between conventional walkways to a new
terminal pier.
-
O2 Dublin: Our acoustics team provided acoustic
engineering services on the new O2 Arena in Dublin which saw the
redevelopment, refurbishment and renaming of the historic Point
Theatre to create a new €80m, 14,000-seat venue.
- Highways: We have played a
key role in a number of highway projects including N4N6 (now M4)
Kinnegad Kilcock Motorway; M3 Clonee to north of Kells Motorway;
and M7/M8 Portlaoise to Castletown/Cullahill Motorway.
- Irish Rail: Capita Symons
has worked on numerous rail projects including the design of two
major sections of railway (Glounthane to Midleton in Co Cork and
Clonsilla to Dunboyne in Co Meath).
- Jack Lynch Tunnel: We were
part of the engineering team that designed the Cork tunnel which
carries over 40,000 vehicles a day.
