We
actively encourage and support our employees in supporting the
local communities affected by our projects. This in turn
contributes to high morale, productivity and retention.
Our community programme is focussed on
building partnerships with the community and participating in
charitable initiatives. A virtual team across Capita Symonds
supports and monitors initiatives, and we encourage and empower
individual business units to invest in their own local and regional
activities
In January 2008, Capita began a two year
partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, setting ourselves a
target of raising £1million over two years. This charity was chosen
by our employees.
We are active members of Business in the
Community (BITC), an independent outreach charity set up by leading
business organisations aiming to inspire, engage, support and
challenge companies on responsible business. Through BITC we have
been involved with a number of community volunteering
initiatives.
Our investment in local area regeneration
includes physical improvements to an area, job creation, providing
work for local suppliers and contributing resources and time to
local community projects.
This investment will lead to more sustainable
communities.
