At Capita Symonds, your development is not a simple process of completing the required training courses but ensuring you personally develop the right skills and competencies to contribute to our success.

As a Capita Symonds graduate, you will have the opportunity to start building your career from day one.

Support

As a new graduate you’ll be appointed a mentor – an experienced professional within the business that can show you the ropes. Your mentor will invest time in you, acting as a sounding board to bounce ideas off and encouraging challenging learning opportunities to support you to step outside your comfort zone.

Development

We recognise that ‘one size does not fit all’ – your learning and development plan will be tailored to suit you.

Depending on the team you join, your qualification and your experience, we will create a unique training plan to suit your needs.

We’ll discuss your training and development needs during your induction, and review again at regular intervals during performance appraisals. We may encourage you to undertake additional qualifications or specific technical training in your chosen discipline.

You may like to become chartered with the professional body representing your discipline. Capita Symonds is keen to support professional development – it makes good business sense. We want you to be the best that you can be and achieving recognition through a professional body demonstrates that you are delivering and maintaining the highest standards of professional competence.

We are currently supporting our colleagues to achieve recognition with over 15 different professional bodies - we have accredited training programmes with CIBSE, ICE, IHIE and RICS.

In 2008, Capita Symonds launched BusinessWise – a 2-year programme to help graduates and young professionals learn key business skills to complement their technical development - delivered jointly by Capita Symonds and the University of Salford. Originally developed with our offices in the North West, BusinessWise is now being rolled out to our offices across the UK.

Experience

As a multidisciplinary consultancy, there will be widespread opportunities for you to gain experience across disciplines and business sectors. You will be actively involved in real projects from the outset and these may vary from small local projects to large scale national projects for public or private sector clients.

You will typically work in multidisciplinary project teams which will give you the opportunity to understand the roles of other technical disciplines and build an important professional network around you.

This breath of experience can present opportunities that you may not have been aware of or had not previously considered, so you can make informed decisions about your career path.

Performance reviews also give our graduates the opportunity to consider how their career might look based on choices they make. The process opens up new possibilities, but with a clear view of what such a move would entail.
