Fire risk assessment
As required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
(RRO 2005), our team provides clients with either one off fire risk
assessments (FRA) or annual re-assessment of their property
portfolios UK-wide.
Annual reviews of the risk assessments are required in order to
monitor progress and demonstrate that an effective fire management
regime is established and functioning.
Fire safety project management
Whatever the enquiry, the world of fire risk management is a
constantly fluctuating concern for clients and tenants. With
the legislation now based upon risk management ideals as opposed to
the previously rigid prescriptive standards, Capita Symonds’ fire
safety team is able to resolve its client and tenant needs with
flexible and pragmatic solutions. Whether this involves
interaction with the Fire Authorities, Building Control or the
Health and Safety Executive, we have the experience and knowledge
to liaise and act on our client’s behalf.
Pre-occupancy/ purchase consultancy
Spending a little before making decisions regarding the purchase
or leasing of a new property is a worthwhile investment that saves
money and eliminates the potential for disruption over the long
term. We can identify the major breaches with the RRO 2005
and PAS79 (Fire Risk Assessment: Guidance and Methodology) before
pen has been put to paper. Similarly we have devised a pre
occupancy risk assessment template which acts as a fire ‘snagging’
review to enable new tenants to occupy an area or whole building
safely prior to the first full FRA being carried.
Vacant/ void fire risk assessment
We have set up a vacant/void FRA template in order to meet the
requirements of the revised methodology for fire risk assessment
PAS79.
Fire safety training
As required by the RRO 2005 and the Fire Safety Employees
Capabilities (England) Regs 2010 we can provide those that are
involved in the fire safety management process the appropriate
training to undertake their work responsibilities in a competent
fashion.
This bespoke ‘Responsible Person’ training is updated and
refreshed as appropriate and is provided by the fire safety
team.
In addition to the above, we also provide tailored fire safety
training sessions to our clients for fire wardens, fire
co-ordinators (those who co-ordinate fire evacuation drills) and
fire awareness training.
Fire engineering
In addition to our team of fire safety consultants, Capita Symonds also has expertise in Fire
Engineering which enables us to provide bespoke design
solutions and advice to clients in relation to the performance of
their buildings and premises.
