Successful development can only be achieved if it minimises
adverse effects on the natural environment, complies with the
principles of sustainability, and provides a balance between cost
and value.
Whether creating new communities from scratch, or transforming
existing ones, Capita Symonds provides a comprehensive service to
assist clients with complex issues such as design, transport,
planning, impact assessment, the environment and engineering, as
well as associated factors be they economic, physical, social or
environmental.
Our extensive capabilities enable us to realise innovative
solutions to the regeneration process from concept to completion
while our experience across both the private and public sectors
gives us a genuine understanding of the potential constraints, as
well as the realistic opportunities, associated with different
schemes, enabling us to understand the need to eliminate risk and
create value.
Some of our key projects include:
- Breckland Council: Capita Symonds 15-year
planning and building control services partnership with Breckland
Council commenced in June 2009. As well as delivering significant
savings to the council and forming the basis for long-term job
creation, the new partnership is also improving public access to
planning services by enabling planning applications to be viewed
online.
- Exercise Watermark: Exercise Watermark, the
UK’s biggest ever emergency response exercise - sponsored by Defra
and WAG and delivered by the Environment Agency - was designed to
test the country’s responses to catastrophic flooding from
overflowing rivers, collapsing reservoirs and tidal surges.
- Woolston Riverside: the £500m Woolston
Riverside mixed-use development will play a central role in
revitalising this Southampton suburb, creating over 1000 jobs for
local people and bringing homes, community facilities and
commercial outlets.
- Urban Vision: Urban Vision, LGC Public Private
Partnership of the Year 2008, was formed as a joint venture between
Salford City Council, Capita Symonds and Morrison Highways
Maintenance. The first of its kind in the UK, the partnership
harnesses the expert skills from across the property, planning,
design and highway services, bringing together the best from both
the public and private sectors.
- Purfleet Regeneration: proposals for the
regeneration of the heart of Purfleet in the Thames Gateway
comprise a £750m regeneration scheme on a 59 hectare brownfield
site.
- Dorney Lake: situated next to the Thames, near
Windsor Castle, this 2.2km long, eight-laned rowing lake will be
the rowing venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Liverpool One: Capita Symonds acted as
transport advisor on this major development project which features
more than 600 residential apartments, two hotels, office space, 160
new shops, 36 new buildings, a cinema, over 20 bars, restaurants
and cafes, parking for over 300 cars, five acres of parkland and
over 1.65 million square feet of retail space.
