With the imminent James Review and new guidelines and regulations set to change the way schools are designed and built, we are taking this opportunity to run a seminar on a hot topic for the sector – school acoustics – and to explore whether we are creating the right environments for the future.

It is an opportunity to look at best practice, to gain perspectives from international experts on the latest research and to look ahead at how we can produce decent quality acoustic environments in schools and academies.

School Acoustics: Are we creating the right environments for the future is a free seminar run by the British Council for School Environments on the 6 June 2011 in Central Manchester from 10.00am to 3.30pm. It is being hosted by Manchester City Council and kindly sponsored by Lightspeed Technologies.

Key speakers at the seminar include:

  • Carol Flexer, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Audiology, University of Akron, USA
  • Dan Ostergren, Research and Consulting Audiologist, Audiology Resource, USA
  • John Sibbald, Specialism and Post-16, Manchester Communication Academy
  • Susan Witterick, Principal Acoustic Consultant, Capita Symonds
Thomas Roth, Business Development Director, Lightspeed Technologies
