Street Design 2011, takes place 29-31 March at Birmingham’s NEC,
will look at the latest in outdoor street furniture, public
lighting, civil engineering, ground works, structures and special
fittings for the public realm.
Capita Symonds’ Martin Kelly will be
taking part in a discussion at this year’s
Street Design conference entitled ‘Integrated
decision making and delivery’.
The debate, which takes place on Tuesday 29th
March (12.00-13.30), will cover the theme: “Our towns and cities
need to be understood in four dimensions - underground, ground
level, above ground and over time. There needs to be integrated,
joined-up thinking and action, if we are to accommodate services
and movement by people and vehicles as well as creating cool
environments and managing storm water events.”
Speakers include:
- John Thomson, Transport Planning, Perth
& Kinross Council, on the challenges for highway engineers in
integrating and maintaining trees and streets.
- Martin Kelly, Director, Land Planning,
Capita Symonds and Chair, Trees & Design Action Group, on
delivering green infrastructure in a crowded urban environment
(Victoria BID – Business Improvement District - case
study).
- Martin Gammie, Director, Consulting
with Trees, on Sustainable Integrated Infrastructure – lessons from
Europe and the USA on the ever increasing constraints on urban
space demand better integration of grey, blue and green
infrastructure.
