Ecologists at Capita Symonds’ Glamorgan partnership are
hosting a public Wildlife Discovery Day in partnership with
Bridgend County Borough Council on Saturday 05 June.
The event is part of Wales Biodiversity Week (05-13 June) as
well as being a ‘BBC Breathing Spaces’ event. It also has added
importance as 2010 is the UN International Year of
Biodiversity.
Sarah Simons, Environment Team Leader, Capita Symonds Glamorgan,
says: “We warmly invite everyone in the area to
come along to participate in the many events taking place on
the day. You can come along for a couple of hours or make a day of
it and bring a picnic as it will be an ideal day out for families
and for children to discover their local wildlife.
“Glamorgan’s ecologists will be leading several events and
hosting a stand with lots of activities for children. Sam Saunders,
our bat specialist, will be bringing in bats for a meet and greet
while our botanist Becky East will be leading a plant walk around
the local common,” she adds.
The event, which goes on to 6pm and has free parking, also
features:
- Woodland wildlife walk
- Woodland crafts
- Tracks and signs talk
- Wildlife displays and activities
- Bird box making
- Bird walk
