Capita Symonds has won four awards for shopping centre marketing
excellence at the British Council of Shopping Centre (BCSC) awards,
including a much coveted full ‘Purple Apple’.
The awards, which are run by the British
Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC), are the equivalent of the
Oscars for the shopping centre industry. They recognise effective
shopping centre marketing across the UK, showcasing new industry
standards and outstanding creative campaigns that achieve superb
results and deliver real value.
Capita Symonds won an exclusive Purple Apple
Award for its work with the Kingdom Shopping Centre, Glenrothes, on
a highly successful 2011 community relations campaign - ‘The Great
Glenrothes Hippo Parade’.
This uniquely interactive community arts
project engaged participation from local schools and achieved over
£50,000 worth of media coverage, attracting national acclaim with a
reception held at the Scottish Parliament to honour the event.
Three Purple Merit Awards were also won by
Capita Symonds for its work with:
• The Academy, Aberdeen for
its ‘ChristmasFest’ event which transformed the Academy’s outdoor
courtyard into a festive gathering complete with log cabin bars
serving food and drinks under a canopy of fairy lights. The event
helped increase footfalls by 19.1% and hiked up festive trading
sales by 8%, significantly outperforming the significantly
outperforming the national average.
• The Chantry Centre,
Andover won for its creative effort in launching an
exciting live interactive display of the mobile gaming sensation
‘Angry Birds’ in the heart of the centre during the Autumn half
term. The event featured the hottest smart-phone app targeted at
Angry Bird fans and coincided with the centre’s official launch on
Facebook, contributing to double digit increases in smart phone
sales and the second strongest footfall in 2011.
• The Chantry Centre,
Andover picked up yet another Purple Apple Merit for its
‘Big British Break’ event which took place in Spring 2011 over the
Easter, Mother’s Day, Royal Wedding and Spring Bank Holiday breaks.
Over this period, dormant space at the heart of the centre was
activated to create a vibrant garden setting for families complete
with a programme of free participatory
events
