Capita Symonds has been appointed onto the Wales and
West Utilities’ (WWU) Environmental Services Framework and Project
Services Framework.
WWU, owned by a consortium of long-term
investors led by the Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund, is a
regulated gas distribution business whose primary role is to
transport gas to the gas meters of homes and businesses - from the
North Wales border to Cornwall – through its extensive 35,000km
network of gas distribution pipelines.
Each Framework will run for a duration of four
years and will require project and environmental consultancy
services on projects comprising new installations such as gas
pipelines, above ground installations (AGI’s) and pressure
reductions stations (PRS’s), in addition to existing installations
maintenance and improvement.
Under the Environmental Services Framework,
Capita Symonds will provide a fully integrated ‘one-stop’
multidisciplinary environmental service as well as specific
specialist technical advice that will cover environmental
management, ecology, contaminated land, flood risk and archaeology.
Examples of work likely to be commissioned under the Framework
include statutory consenting procedures, EIA, environmental
reports, site audits, construction supervision, site surveys,
watching briefs and flood risk assessments.
Karl Johnson, Project Director, Capita
Symonds, says: “Under the Project Services Framework, Capita
Symonds will be continuing the excellent relationships we have had
with WWU over the last thirty years. We will be providing project
support in terms of cost and project management, CDMC and H&S
auditing with the added support of civil and structural design
services.”
