23 October 2008

The 17th Annual Capita Symonds Safety Lecture, in association with the Health and Safety Board of the Institution of Civil Engineers, has taken place in London.

This year’s guest speaker - Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority John Armitt – presented his paper entitled "Combining Safety, Health and Environment - have we succeeded?"

In the lecture John reflected on the move in recent years in corporate governance from safety to safety, health and environment; the expectations in the performance of the industry; and the roles of the respective players - clients, designers, contractors/suppliers.

John has many years experience in engineering, most recently as the Chief Executive of Network Rail and now as the Executive Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority.
