Kirklees Council has appointed
Tribal Group as strategic ICT advisors and Capita Symonds as
technical advisors to their secondary Building Schools for the
Future (BSF) programme.
Tribal will compliment the
council’s in house Schools for the Future team and provide support
in creating an ICT vision and specification development, as well as
assisting in delivering an effective commissioning and procurement
process. Tribal are currently carrying out an audit to determine
the existing ICT provision in Kirklees schools.
Capita Symonds will advise on site
suitability and are currently visiting schools and reviewing
building stock. The information gathered will be used to inform
decisions around the Strategy for Change, the first formal
component of the BSF approvals process, and future investment
plans.
Both Tribal and Capita Symonds have proven
track records of delivering large scale projects to the education
sector and in creating innovative, visionary and transformational
learning environments.
Kirklees Schools for the Future is a
programme which will transform the way we learn and teach in
Kirklees. It is funded by Kirklees Council and by the national
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Primary Schools for the
Future (PSF) programmes. It will provide significant investment
into our school staff, buildings and facilities over the coming
years.
Kirklees Schools for the Future programme
comprises Building Schools for the Future Wave 6 (North Kirklees
Secondary and Fartown secondary schools), Primary Schools for the
Future and Building Schools for the Future South Kirklees
Schools.
As of 6 February 2008 there are nine BSF
schools open throughout the UK. A total of 12 BSF schools will be
open by the end of the end of March 2008. 35 more BSF schools are
due to open in 2008/09, and a further 118 in 2009/10.
Cllr Jim Dodds, Cabinet member for Children
and Young People comments: “"As we formulate our plans for Building
Schools for the Future, it is vital that we draw on the experiences
of those who have already been involved. The addition of Tribal
Group as strategic ICT advisors and Capita Symonds as technical
advisors to our secondary BSF programme will ensure we move in the
right direction."
Kirklees Schools for the Future is also
currently underway with the procurement of legal and financial
advisors.
