Plans for the new £25m Fulwood Academy in Preston have
been unveiled.
Capita Symonds’ Blackburn office is designing the 11,000 sq ft
Academy for 1200 pupils which is being sponsored by Carphone
Warehouse co-founder Charles Dunstone
The proposed plans comprise a major rebuild and substantial
refurbishment of the existing school - Fulwood High School and Arts
College – and will showcase the Academy’s Digital Media
specialism.
The Academy is being Project Managed by Lancashire County
Council which has commissioned the Catalyst Lendlease LEP (Local
Education Partnership) to deliver the completed scheme. Established
in 2006, the East Lancashire LEP now has some 20 education and
community projects either fully complete, on site, or at advanced
stages of design.
An official planning application has now been submitted by
Lancashire County Council. If approved in mid-April, construction
work will start in September 2010, with the new Academy opening in
2012.
