The John Pounds Community Centre in Portsea, Portsmouth,
has been nominated in the ‘Regenerating Communities’ category at
the 2010 UK Housing Awards.
Named after a philanthropic eighteenth century
Portsmouth cobbler, the mixed use development has regenerated a
semi-derelict site in one of the most deprived wards in South East
England and comprises 153 flats, primary care facilities, shops,
and a community resource centre set around courtyard gardens.

Capita Symonds provided a full
multidisciplinary service on the £7m Centre - encompassing building
design, landscape, environment and project management.
The winners of the awards will be announced on
Wednesday 10 November.
