Capita Symonds has been officially certified as a patron of
RedR UK - the international organisation which selects and trains
engineers for humanitarian aid programmes across the world – at a
drinks reception hosted by HRH The Princess Royal.
Capita Symonds will provide RedR UK with annual funding of
£10,000 per year for a minimum of four years, including additional
support through various fundraising events across the company.

The original concept of RedR was to create a register of
carefully selected and trained engineers who could be called on at
short notice to work with front-line relief agencies, either on
secondment from their regular employer or as a full time aid relief
worker.
HRH The Princess Royal, who has been President of the charity
for 19 years, highlighted in a speech the value of RedR’s Patrons
for the future of the organisation and presented a certificate to
Capita Symonds as a new patron.
Capita Symonds’ involvement is led by David Price,
Infrastructure Associate at the Cwmbran Office (pictured above left

David has also just secured £20,000 of funding from the Welsh
Assembly Government for his RedR / Engineers Without Borders (EWB)
partnership with Cardiff University. These funds will be used to
run training courses in Wales and to create a pool of experienced
local engineers, which would enable them to join RedR and learn the
skills required for working in disaster-affected areas.
