The project
In July 2009, Capita Symonds’ Sport Leisure and Culture,
and Cost Management teams were appointed by the Olympic Delivery
Authority (ODA) to undertake a review and due diligence exercise on
London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games’ (LOCOG) Cost
Reimbursement Submission to the ODA for the 2012
Games.
As part of the ongoing review and development of its proposals
for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, London has proposed
alternative venues for a number of the sports, such as handball,
fencing and volleyball. Many of these proposals involve the moving
of the sports from proposed temporary or new venues to existing
ones. As the ODA is responsible for the delivery of new facilities
and LOCOG for the temporary overlay at existing ones, this has
resulted in a transfer of responsibility for the delivery of these
venues from the ODA to LOCOG.
In March 2009, LOCOG submitted a cost reimbursement claim to the
ODA for the scope of the additional works that have become its
responsibility. Capita Symonds was responsible for reviewing this
claim in detail, both in terms of the scope of the changes and the
estimated costs associated with them. This will enable the ODA to
negotiate and agree an appropriate level of reimbursement with
LOCOG.
