The project:
The brief for the masterplan is to build on the initial
urban design of the Dover Place area and (ATCAAP) to create an
initial masterplan for the area that will facilitate creation of a
new mixed use commercial quarter in the town comprising retail,
leisure commercial and residential uses.
The quarter will act as a catalyst for job creation in Ashford and
help to sustain night-time economy to ensure the area retains its
vitality after businesses close. As part of our work, Capita
Symonds will consider how international house can be incorporated
into the scheme also how a high quality public realm/forecourt
could enhance the environment in front of the station.
Throughout the master planning process, Capita Symonds consulted
with Ashford Borough Council Strategic Sites and Planning Policy
Teams to ensure continued buy in to the concepts and identified key
issues that may negate future support from local councillors /
Ashford’s Future.
Capita Symonds added value through development of an efficient,
flexible and highly sustainable commercial space.
