The project
Capita Symonds is preparing a Detailed
Project Report (DPR) for the 110km Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat
‘corridor’, part of a proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)
for the National Capital Region (NCR) which consists of eight
corridors.
The majority of the alignment (100km) is on
concrete viaduct consisting of standard 30m spans raised on piers
before the final 3km goes through twin single bore tunnels into
Kashmere Gate.
NCR is a highly urbanised region spread over
four constituent states of Haryana, NCT-Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar
Pradesh. As its population is expected to grow to 64.14 million by
2021 an efficient transport system is vital in order to facilitate
the region’s development.
Capita Symonds’ scope of work includes an
alignment report which comprises a review of corridor
characteristics; identifying and reviewing possible alignment
options through each section of the corridor; and identifying land
parcels and station locations.
In mid October 2011 Capita Symonds issued a
feasibility report which included undertaking conceptual station
planning; urban design of stations; topographic surveys;
geo-technical investigations; typical design of proposed viaduct;
design parameters and outline specifications of rolling stock;
train operation plan; timetabling; traction system; power supply
arrangement; signalling and telecommunication systems; and cost
estimation.. This submission was included in the overall
feasibility report prepared by Capita Symonds’ client DIMTS and
issued to the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) at the
end of October.
Once the feasibility report has been accepted
by the NCRPB the final element of the work will be the Detailed
Project Report (DPR) deliverables which include a construction
methodology and commissioning schedule; environmental and social
impact assessments; the resettlement and rehabilitation plan;
facilities development plan; operation and maintenance plan; depot
plans; and other technical assistance to the client.
