The project
The launch of the FIAT 500 in the UK was timed for
the 500th hour of 2008 and featured the unveiling of the car
onstage at an event held at the London Eye.
The event was screened to many FIAT dealerships and was attended
by a crowd including invited VIPs and members of the public who had
won tickets to the event. The promotional event included the
placing of a FIAT inside one of the London Eye capsules where the
car remained for three weeks.
A temporary stage was built together with a VIP Viewing platform
and the car was loaded into the capsule having removed parts of the
London Eye glazed partitions and installed a temporary ramp for the
car which only squeezed in once the capsule doors had been
removed!
Capita Symonds provided safety advice in the planning of the
public and build safety aspects for the event including crowd
management strategies and provision of risk assessment for the
event as a whole.
