The project
Capita Symonds was appointed to develop a suite of
consultation tools used in the promotion and consultation of the
Environment Agency Flood Risk Management policy in the Thames
Estuary.
Services included:
- Thorough review and understanding of
current and future flood risk management policies
- Development of a programme of tools and
processes to be used to engage communities
- Use of a range of engagement
techniques for public and targeted consultations
- Design of consultation processes and
literature (informative leaflets and questionnaires)
- Implementation of community surveys and
use of statistical techniques for analysis of responses
- Development of a decision making tool
using GIS which captured and highlighted some of the complexities
involved in flood risk management as well as the issues that must
be negotiated when considering sustainable flood risk management
strategies;
- GIS based spatial data analysis and
mapping (publication to internet)
- Dissemination of findings through Web GIS to
representatives from many other EU countries through an
international workshop facilitated on behalf of the
EA.
