The project
The geodiversity section of www.goodquarry.com describes
the relationship between quarries and geodiversity, promoting and
encouraging projects that facilitate good practice in
conservation.
The section also provides information on the concepts and
potentials associated with geodiversity for the minerals industry
and gives general guidance on how successful and sustainable use of
geodiversity can be achieved. Links and helpful tools to enable
those involved in the industry to realise the potential of their
geodiversity assets are also provided.
Capita Symonds provided supporting case study examples on the
successful use of the geodiversity resource in quarries. In
particular, emphasis was placed on how utilisation of the
geodiversity resource present was carried out at different stages
of quarries’ operational lives - during planning, active
excavation, restoration and legacy stages. The role included a
thorough review and restructuring of the draft geodiversity content
for the website.
