The project
The aim of the project was to deliver a 5 classroom teaching
block with breakout areas and to refurbish the existing school
library to this well attended popular school located adjacent to
Royal Birkdale Golf club in an affluent area of Southport,
Merseyside.
Capita Symonds provided the Project Management, Design and Cost
Management services on this £350k new build and refurbishment
project.
The project involved the construction of a state of the art
teaching space with large circulation and break out area. The
design and layout was planned to maximise the use both for school
and after school use and to enable the school to raise revenue
through lettings. The large picture windows provide excellent views
over the coast.
The existing library block received new external cladding to
improve the external appearance and to update this part of the
school.
The scheme was funded partly through the Local Education
Authority budget and partly through the school devolved capital
budget. The contract was completed on time and within
budget.
