Project Value: £90m
Start/Completion: 2003 - 2005
The project
The segregation of Pier 5 at Terminal
3 was the first of its kind at Heathrow following a DTR directive
in response to 9/11.
The innovative solution included a series of
new vertical circulation cores (VCC’s) connecting to a new arrivals
level sited on the roof of the existing pier. Corridor sections
were pre-assembled off-site at a remote facility and installed
during night working periods.
Capita Symonds was appointed to provide
detailed design for the fit-out of all areas and design fixed links
and connectors (also assembled off-site).
