Capita Symonds has established a strategic alliance with AWG Construction to tender for major highway improvement projects in the North of England up to a value of £25m. The alliance will concentrate its efforts on targeting the Highways Agency's major road building programme as well as local authorities and developers.

A number of suitable projects in the Highways Agency's programme have already been identified, a facilitated workshop has been held and an Alliance Charter is in place underlining the partnership.

A Joint Venture has also been formed between AWG Highway Maintenance Ltd and Capita Symonds specifically to deliver integrated highway maintenance services to local authorities.

AWG and Capita have been working together for several years delivering services within the A69 DBFO concession and in other collaborations. The formation of the JV, which operates as networX, was the natural progression in the development of this working relationship.

AWG Highway Maintenance, as the name implies, specialises in the delivery of highway maintenance works, providing services to local authorities, private sector clients and other AWG Group companies.

The networX JV brings together the extensive highway maintenance and construction expertise of AWG and the considerable highway management and engineering experience of Capita Symonds to provide the necessary mix of skills to deliver a fully integrated contracting and consultancy service.
